Cloud Forest
Miraflor: Finca Neblina del Bosque
We were recommened this place by our friend Tim that lives with his family in Esteli. This Finca is five years old started by a lovely couple that worked thru many hardships and tragety to see this place got off the ground. We learned there story from Oscar the guia and grounds keeper that has been with them since the very beginning. They grow everything on these grounds from carrots to coffee to cabbage. Any thing that can be found in Miraflor they have. They try to create a space that inspires one stop and smell the flowers and reflect on life and nature and our place in both. The views – with and without the clouds are to die for. This finca is located in the highest part of the reserve the cloud forest area. This area is very wet and cool when cloudy and very comfortable when sunny. You will need at least a jacket to keep the cold off especailly at night. Pants are helpfull to. Right now I’m in capri but I think that pants would be more helpfull if for nothing more then for extra protection from mosquitos. But so far so good. My favorite part is they have two hammacks up for folks to use and after a nice hike our horseback riding that may be just what you need! The finca is run on solar power and has warm (warm enough) water. They also have food service and the food is great and they can accomadate vegetarians. Remember too that this is in a cloud forest so things get wet and stay wet unless there is a significant break of sunshine. We went on the hike throught the bosque and seen about four of the 208 varities of orchaids that are flowering this time
