Tai Fu Tai:

Hong Kong is known for blending the old with the new. It’s easy to get distracting by the blinking buildings but it would be very worth your time to visit someplace with some history.  I took the Heritage Tour with Shoestring Travel to visit some historical sites in Hong Kong. We stopped at the Tai Fu Tai manor. This was the home of Man Chune-Luen a scholar that was given the title Tai Fu by the Qing imperial Government. Recently renovated the home that was originally built around 1865 is now a museum. The intricate details found in every element of the home are truly inspiring. It was a nice glimpse into the past to see how the better half lived so long ago. This residence is was not just a tourist stop, during our visit there was a High school class on a field trip as well. There are many things I liked about this tour. I learned that the moon doors are supposed to add 6 min to your life every time you walk through them. I also really like the yellow parlor room with the saying (in Chinese) making fun with the moon on the wall.
